Why are you charging a subscription fee for access to component information?

The PartMiner CAPS™ Database has a history of over 20 years of being the premier industry resource for comprehensive, intelligently organized information on electronic components. Since PartMiner acquired it in 1999, the responsibility to maintain and grow and quality-assure the database content has come to us. We take that responsibility very seriously, and have committed substantial resources to preserve and increase the database's value -- to keep pace with the industry's never-ending blizzard of new component introductions, PCNs, and life-cycle information.

PartMiner is committed to providing the industry-leading resource for technical information to its customers now and in the future. As a result, the company is moving to a subscription model for access to in-depth information in its CAPS™ Database.

What enhancements have you made to the CAPS™ Advisor and Expert products?

PartMiner continues to focus on enhancing our online products for our subscribers. We have released new functionality to enable easier searching and improved results.

  • New category hierarchy for easy search
  • New document search to find parts by first locating the associated document
  • Improved parametric search through simplified value ranges
  • New "Query-by-Example" search to find replacements
  • New automated "similar replacements" search to find more component results

Is any information available for free?

Yes, the Find section of our site continues to gather current price and availability information from the web sites of over 20 major component suppliers in response to a part-number search. There are no subscription fees for this service.

How do I subscribe?

Individual or simultaneous user subscriptions or site licences are available to PartMiner CAPS™ Advisor or Expert. Subscriptions can be purchased for either the semiconductor portion of the database only, or for the complete database.
