Search Results
After you click the SUBMIT button, the system searches supplier Web sites simultaneously for current price and availability and displays search results.
Note: If the search produced no results or fewer than expected, see Lack of Search Results for possible causes.
Actions from the Search Results
- Shortage: Source from PartMiner - After searching for parts and determining that the supplier sites do not have what you need, click the SHORTAGE button. This will take you to the Buy & Sell module, where you can request a price quote from PartMiner for your electronic component needs.
See Fields on the RFQ/Quote Worksheet for information on the RFQ form. PartMiner is automatically selected as the supplier.
- Narrow the Results Display to Selected Parts - Click checkboxes in the Select column and click the DISPLAY SELECTION button. The results then show only the parts you selected. To further narrow the results at this point, click checkboxes again and click the UPDATE SELECTION button.
- View the Data Sheet/Other Information in the Research module - Click the part number link. This does a "Starts With" search for the part number in the Research module and opens a new window to show search results.
On the Search Results page, you can access the data sheet and other information for a selected part. For details, see Part Number Search Results.
- Go to the Part Number Page on the Supplier Site - Click the supplier name link. This will take you to the related page on the supplier's Web site. Typically, this is the order page where you can begin the purchase process.
- Clear the Results - Click the NEW SEARCH button. This clears the results and returns you to the Search page.
Lack of Search Results
If your search returned no results, or no results from a specific site, there are several possible causes:
- Part Not on a Supplier Web Site - The part you are searching for may be obsolete, or infrequently requested, so it is currently not included on a supplier site. You can click the SHORTAGE button to source from PartMiner.
- Part Number Too Specific - Try refining your search in the following ways:
- If you used the Exact option, select a broader option and search again.
- If you used the Starts With option, delete one or more characters from the end of the part number and search again.
- Supplier Web Site Unavailable - It is possible that a site may be unavailable (server is down, etc.) at the time of your search. You may want to try the search later.
