Definitions - Replacements/Other Parts
Replacements - Semiconductors- Direct Replacements - Parts that are "fit, form, and function" replacements for the selected part. All key parameter values (the functionality parameters, package types, power supply voltages, etc.) and all performance-type parameter values (the speed, gain, accuracy, etc.) are identical between the original part and the suggested replacements.
- Upgrade Replacements - Parts that are "fit, form, and function" replacements for the selected part. All key parameter values (the functionality parameters, package types, power supply voltages, etc.) are identical between the original part and the suggested upgrade replacements. At least one compared performance-type parameter value (the speed, gain, accuracy, etc.) is better than the original part and none are worse.
- Downgrade Replacements - Parts that are "fit, form, and function" replacements for the selected part. All key parameter values (the functionality parameters, package types, power supply voltages, etc.) are the same as the original part. At least one compared performance-type parameter value (the speed, gain, accuracy, etc.) is worse than the original part.
- Similar Replacements - Parts that perform the same basic function as the selected part and have several important characteristics (package type and others depending upon the category) in common with the selected part.
Replacements - Passives- Direct - Parts that are considered direct "fit, form, and function" replacements for the selected device.
- Similar - Parts that are similar to the selected device in terms of function, but may not be direct replacements due to size differences.
Replacements - Connectors and Electromechanical- Direct - Parts that are considered direct replacements for the selected device. Depending on the type of device (connector, switch, etc.) parameters such as pin/plating material, configuration, and mounting compatibility are taken into consideration.
- Similar - Parts that are similar to the selected device in terms of mating and mounting characteristics, but may not be direct replacements due to dimensional and pin/plating material differences.
- Mating - Parts that provide electrical contact to the selected device with attachment and removal capability.
